ABOUT ME
Thank you for visiting my website-a "Living Resume" that goes beyond the keywords and 10 second searches.
I have always been creative from an early age. As an only child, I found ways to entertain myself through Lego, Erector Sets, Girder and Panel building sets, and drawing. Winter days would be spent in the basement with friends, building Hot Wheels tracks, and drawing battle scenes on long rolls of paper given to us by the local Merchandiser. I grew up in Hamburg, a small town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, and ran around with the same group of guys.
In middle school, my creative hobbies included making detailed model kits, and flying Estes Rockets. I started playing the saxophone in 4th grade and performed in the orchestra and marching band in high school. I also enjoyed performing in several school musicals and plays, and worked behind the scenes on our large lighting board.
These activities taught me several lessons-working together as a team, the value of practice and discipline. How to manage my time, and maintain focus. Building models taught me patience, and the importance of small details.
Understanding my background and interests led me to attend Geneva College and major in Broadcast Communications with a minor in Public Relations.
Attending college before the digital technology and social media of today was something we may not have missed. The opportunities at a smaller college meant more hands on work. My college roommate and I had the same major, and we may have lived in the small TV studio we had access to, more than our dorm room. During our time at college, we created a weekly news show, started a Homecoming Video team, where we shot and edited videos the college used as recruitment tools. In our Junior and Senior year, we created a Video Yearbook—a 2 hour adventure of the past year, and a companion to a traditional yearbook.. I also worked for our college radio station, where I produced (3) weekly shows,
After College, I accepted a Copywriter position with the Donnelley Directory and the Talking Yellow Pages. My job, along with a team of 34 others, was to write persuasive copy, contact the advertiser and read the message for approval, and them have them digitized. I had an account base of advertisers, and wrote special event copy for codes in the front of the book. Later in my position, we started a Video Yellow Pages, where we created local 30 second ads, airing on cable stations.
My next position was an Account Manager for National Computer Systems, which at the time was one of the leaders in electronic testing.
For over 8 years, I worked in Western Footwear for Double-H Boots. Many diverse avenues opened during this time, from creating marketing and POP merchandise, coordinating trade and retail shows, managing Sponsorships, event planning, party planning, new brand launches, photo shoots, print catalog and website work.
While there, I was promoted to start a newly created Inside Sales position, which I ran until a corporate change and move. This involved analytical, creative, and organizational skills on a level I had never used before.
These skill sets led me to Field Territory Position with the Patriot News, a Central Pennsylvania based newspaper. Creative talents included creating ad concepts for clients, and creating marketing campaigns for these same clients.
While there, I was approached about a Branch Manger opportunity for a local Credit Union. One of my new skill sets was managing interpersonal relationships with customers and staff, while managing my own training, and branch goals.
My current position is with Key Dies, a custom Steel Rule manufacturing facility. Entering all work orders, following up with customers, and assisting with afternoon shipping are some of my responsibilities.
I am looking for a position that utilizes more of my creativity, social skills, and multitasking, while having fun. There's more to learn on this site, so let's keep going.
